I could not find if this was already an idea submitted, so here we go:
We have teachers who teach different levels of a class at the same time, therefore students are placed in different class sets, example: IB Biology HL 1 and IB Biology SL 1.
When the teacher has these 2 sets in his timetable at the same time, he has to switch the class sets to take attendance. He might have 10 students in HL 1 and 10 students in SL 1. Another example is Photography I and Photography II.
We would love for the teachers to be able to combine (on the screen) the 2 classes so they can take attendance for all 20 students at once. Is this a possibility? I know other SIS's have this as an option. Thank you!
I can only add to this. We have the same issue in our DP cohort, where we might have students in the HL section, SL section (completing the full DP) and then some students who are doing similar level work, but who are on our High School Certificate pathways. In order to report on these students/classes (and have their course/level, show on the report card) we need to make classes/subjects for those three sets (HL, SL and HSC), but then the teacher of that class, needs to take 3 separate registers, which takes time.
I can take this to the next level too, in our MYP language acquisition classes, we teach by phase (combined grade and classes). For example, we have an emergent (phases 1 and 2) level class, with combined grades of 7 and 8. We may only have 1 or 2 students in each section, but that is 4 separate registers:
Grade 7 Phase 1
Grade 7 Phase 2
Grade 8 Phase 1
Grade 8 Phase 2
Our most extreme would be in Grades 9-10, where we need to combine phases 3-4 (capable) and 5 (early proficient). This would be up to 6 separate registers: 9P3, 9P4, 9P5, 10P3, 10P4, 10P5. While this is an extreme case, it has happened, and detracts from the lesson opening and flow.
It seems that if we can merge multiple lessons into the same digital space (i.e. slot on the timetable), we should be able to do the same for the physical space, and thus have an attendance register to match what is in front of the teacher.
