We would like iSAMS to support updating a Gradebook using the spreadsheet download/upload functionality available through Report Wizard.
Suggested workflow:
A teacher selects the relevant Gradebook/assessment data in Report Wizard.
The teacher downloads the data as a spreadsheet.
The teacher enters or updates the grades in the spreadsheet.
The teacher uploads the completed spreadsheet back into iSAMS through Report Wizard.
iSAMS validates the data and updates the corresponding grades in the linked Gradebook.
Why this would be useful:
At present, teachers need to enter grades directly into the Gradebook or copy/paste grades manually. For classes with a large number of students or assessments, this can be time-consuming and increases the possibility of data-entry errors.
A controlled spreadsheet import would allow teachers to work efficiently with existing school spreadsheets while ensuring that grades can be transferred into the appropriate Gradebook.
Example use case:
A teacher has assessed a class using an Excel spreadsheet. Instead of manually transferring 30–40 grades into the iSAMS Gradebook, the teacher could download the relevant Gradebook template/data, enter the grades, and upload the completed spreadsheet. iSAMS would match the students and assessment columns and update the corresponding Gradebook entries.
Ideally, the upload process would include validation and warnings for issues such as invalid student IDs, missing students, incorrect grade formats, or grades that do not correspond to the selected assessment.
This feature would significantly reduce duplicate data entry and make the Gradebook more practical for teachers who already use spreadsheets for assessment and marking.
